JAC Counselling Centre
“Listening is often the only thing needed to help someone.”
JAC Counselling Centre upholds a holistic view of counselling that enables its services to reach and assist a vast majority of the campus community while contributing to an environment of support and encouragement. Counselling serves as a therapy for the students where they can comfortably confide in the counsellors and discuss their personal anxieties and psychological problems. After patiently listening and understanding the challenges faced by the student, the counsellor offers advice, guides and directs the client to tackle the issues she faces. It is designed to facilitate a support system that would improve student achievement, behaviour and help them to develop in academic, social and ethical aspects of their lives.

About our Counsellors
Counselling is provided by trained counsellors and experienced teachers. There are six trained counsellors and they have attended basic level counselling courses in various recognized counselling institutes run by the Anugraha Institute, Dindigul. Adopting a client-centric approach, the counsellors work with the clients or students in need to explore their strengths and help them to make their own decisions. The students who need counselling are identified with the help of the mentors and the counsellors attend them personally and counsel them individually. There is a counselling centre in the college where the counsellors are available and the students are informed about the functioning of the centre and the time of the availability of the counsellors. Apart from this, based on the nature of the issues identified by the counsellors, some clients are directed to go to psychologists or to recognized and approved counselling centres.
